setting goals + intentions for 2020

GOALS! I am gonna just go out and say it. I live for this shit!

For as long as I can remember, I have loved making lists, setting goals and getting excited about whats to come. As much as I love Christmas (which is like A LOT) I also love a fresh start and an excuse to set intentions and goals for the upcoming year.

I’ve got a fresh planner, notebook, pen and all of the fixin’s and baby am I ever ready to go!

I always have the intention of getting these kinds of posts live right at the start of January, but it seems I can never get it together in time. Although, I feel like this year I have a really valid excuse (a 10 week old bb boy!) The problem is, I get so excited about setting all of these goals and making all of these lists that I take my sweet time to make sure they’re just right.

So, how can you get started on setting this year (and decade!) off on the right foot? Here are a few of the things I like to do to get excited and refreshed for the year.

Oh, also - it’s never too late! These can happen late January, in the Spring or whenever feels right!

20 for 2020; I have been doing these lists for the past two years and am loving them! The goal is to make a list of things to do in that year, that are actual things you can cross off a list. So instead of saying “travel more” you could say “Go on a trip to California”. In the past I did 18 for 2018 and 19 for 2019. I am finally done my 20 things for 2020 list and am so happy with it :) — remember, they can be little things, it doesn’t have to be all about running a marathon.

do less // do more list; I like doing these and tend to have a lot more on the “do more” side of things. This is more so where I’d put things like “drink more water”, “cook more meals”, “spend more time outside” etc. A really cool way to be more intentional with the way you live and what excites you and makes you feel good.

things to do with your partner/bestie/family/kids; Pete and I also like making lists/goals and things we want to do together throughout the year. This year we’re also doing a list of things we want to do with Otis too! (the cutest, best list ever to make!) These are a fun ways to have lots to look forward to and try new things with the people you love!

Here are some little things I did to start the year/decade off on a positive note!;

  • made a list of home projects/things i wanted to clean out or organize

  • unsubscribed from all the newsletters i don’t care about anymore (omg this felt so good)

  • started following new accounts on instagram that inspire me and are different + creative

  • started using a new planner + notebook to fill with lots of ideas and dreams

  • made some tentative travel plans to have something to look forward to

  • re-organized and refreshed our place in little spots here and there

  • filled two large bags and two boxes of items and clothes to donate

  • downloaded and researched some new podcasts to listen to

  • started planning instagram/blog/podcasts with topics that excite me

  • freshened up my desk area so that i am inspired to spend more time there

  • loaded up on some eco-friendly items to live a more green lifestyle (more on that coming soon!)

  • started “self care sunday” with my own little basket of self care items

Ok, I hope you’re maybe feeling a bit more inspired to get started on some goals for 2020! They don’t need to be “resolutions”, I know a lot of people hate that word. Don’t let it discourage you from being excited about your future! MANIFEST THAT SHIT
