let's stay home // sharing some positivity

I’ve started writing this post about ten times in the past few weeks, but for obvious reasons can’t seem to get all the words I want to down.

But, here I am. It’s Monday, and although the days don’t seem to have much meaning around here anymore, a part of me feels the need to accomplish something today.

I’l be honest, even I am having a tough time staying positive some days. Overall, I feel good. I feel lucky and thankful I am able to stay safe at home with Pete and Otis and that we’ve got everything we really need right now. I feel at ease knowing my family and friends have been practicing social distancing and isolation right from when they were told to, and am connected to them constantly.

When I talked about postpartum life after having Otis, the biggest piece of advice I gave was to get outside. To go for walks, go grab a coffee, do some shopping, meet up with friends, get some fresh air etc. Do as much or as little that feels right for you, but continue doing these kinds of things. For me, that was a deal breaker and something that was so good for my mental health. I think this is a big part of why this has been an extra huge change for me. Of course I know we are safest at home, and it’s what we need to do right now. But, I’d be lying if I said the change hasn’t taken a bit of a toll on me.

With that being said, we are doing really good. I have been gathering up all my positivity and continuing to spread it as best I can with the world right now. It’s never felt more important than it does right now. I am incredibly thankful for Pete and Otis for making me smile every single day, and reminding me how lucky we are right now, and always.

I’ve been finding joy in the little things right now, more than ever.

I’ve got SO MANY ideas of things I want to post about and places I want to show love too. There is a lot of love to go around but I want to get this out into the world + offer a few small things you can do today, or this week to hopefully make you smile + feel good.

Oh, and remember: it’s okay to not want to do anything. It’s okay to feel sad, bored or unmotivated. This is a really scary time for all of us. Some days we may feel inspired and productive, and other days we may just want to stay in bed. Both are okay.

Enjoying my coffee, with some music on and have got a beautiful baby boy asleep next to me right now. This is what I mean about the little things :)

Here are some things I’ve loved lately +

want to share with you all:

new episode of my podcast // For the first time since June I recorded an episode of Confetti Culture. FINALLY - it felt good to get back on the mic. Have a listen (only 25 mins!) for some ways to stay positive during the pandemic, and just talkin’ about all the feels.

biggie smalls

stop, breathe + think // I was looking for a good (free!) meditation app, and this one is really wonderful/beautiful. Pete and I are really going to get this going this week.

brit + co online classes // Brit+Co is offering all of their online courses for free right now! Valid until April 9th. Use the code SELFCARE. They’ve got classes like hand lettering, photography, etc.

the daily good newsletter // Lately I’ve been searching for newsletters that I will actually read and be inspired by. The daily good is the definition of that. Sustainable recipes, podcasts, articles + more.

you should watch shrill // We just got Crave (omg, best decision we’ve made!) So I finally got to watch the rest of Shrill. It is so good! I love Aidy baby so much and it’s just so perfect.

listen to jack johnson // I’ve always loved Jack. He just makes me so happy. This past weekend he did an instagram live concert and we watched, and it warmed our hearts. I listened to him all day yesterday and it honestly was just so soothing.

we all love tom hanks // My brother sent me this podcast episode for me to listen to and I just love it. It’s basically just stories from people talking about how Tom Hanks is the most amazing human, and it’s sure to warm your heart.

advice from therapists on covid-19 // Someone tweeted this last week and I thought it was really amazing. Check out this article with tips from therapists on dealing with anxiety during the pandemic.

Hope this brought a little bit of sunshine into your soul today. Happy Monday. xo
